Our congregation is located in the Finger Lakes of New York, on the east side of Seneca Lake, about 9 miles north of Watkins Glen. The area has been undergoing a major transformation into a premier winegrowing region. Wineries and breweries are part of the area’s revitalization. We are surrounded by vineyards, as well as cherry, peach, and apple orchards, blueberry farms, and corn fields. We also have a number of dairy, beef cattle, and sheep farms. Some farms and vineyards are moving to organic certification.
Nearby Watkins Glen is the host of several car races at Watkins Glen International, including a 355-mile NASCAR race, and the annual Vintage Car Festival celebrating the years when the town hosted the U.S. Grand Prix.
Also nearby is Ithaca, NY, home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, and one of the original vegetarian restaurants, Moosewood.
